The underlying cause of neuropathy is often a lack of nerve fiber circulation in the injured area – literal damage or death of nerve tissue. While traditional treatments such as drugs from neurologists, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, or chiropractic are all effective therapies in their own right, none of them address the cause of neuropathy and therefore are only short term fixes, if they are of benefit at all.
Often times what patients need most is an effective increase in circulation to the damaged area to bring blood and needed nutrients to the area for blood vessel repair and nerve regeneration. It is only when a Physician addresses the root cause of the problem that patients will see effective, long term success.
We have seen long lasting results for symptoms in many cases, oftentimes permanent. The results are most likely to be long lasting and even permanent when treatment protocols and recommendations are followed as well as when patients address the root cause of the Neuropathy in the first place, often times their Diabetes, poor lifestyle choices, lack of exercise, etc... We have seen that the more positive health changes a patient makes the better and more long lasting the results tend to be.
With peripheral neuropathy the peripheral nerves CAN heal and go through a process of repair and even some regeneration, Our 5-step Neuropathy protocol has been shown to increase circulation to the damaged area, increase oxygen to the area, improve healing, simulate the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), stimulate formation of new tissue (fibroblast activity) and even help to reverse the effects of nerve damage in Neuropathy. If our 5-step Protocol is followed properly, if patients adopt healthy lifestyle choices including exercise, vitamins, nutritional supplementation, and healthy eating, the symptoms of Neuropathy can be slowed, stopped and even sometimes reversed.
In order to treat most causes of neuropathy we must understand what is the main cause in the first place. This will allow us to develop a specific plan for a CAUSE-ORIENTED treatment approach offering a higher chance of success, rather than one based entirely on symptoms as is found with many of todays failed conventional approaches.
It has been found through extensive research that the cause of almost all neuropathy pain; the cause of distressed and damaged peripheral nerves which create the many various symptoms of neuropathy — is from ISCHEMIA. Ischemia is one of those scientific words which simply mean tissue death due to starvation. This is vitally important to understand, because peripheral nerves are LIVING TISSUES NEEDING TO BE FED.
All living things require nutrients and oxygen and need to be as free of poisons and toxins as possible in order to grow, thrive and prosper. Your peripheral nerves are NO exception! When functioning normally, nerve tissues receive nutrient rich, highly-oxygenated blood that is carried to them by tiny-tiny-tiny blood vessels (capillaries) that are easily clogged.
You may be surprised to learn most drug treatments for neuropathy are NOT EVEN INTENDED to treat neuropathy, but are actually designed to treat other conditions! For example, Neurontin (Gabapentene) is actually an anti-convulsive designed to treat seizures. Elevil (Amyltriptine), Tofranil (Imapramine) and Cymbalta (Duloxetine) are anti-depressants. None of the drugs on the market, not even Lyrica (Pregabalin – addresses the TRUE UNDERLYING CAUSE of neuropathy, which as weve discussed is that of damage to the nerves due to restricted blood, nutrient and oxygen flow (Ischemia)
Of course, the many side-effects of these drugs also frequently lead to other health problems from a result of long-term usage (such as immune system, liver, kidney and stomach disorders, kidney failure, increased risk of kidney dialysis and suicidal tendencies — just to name a few.
Yes, There is an exception to every rule. Its true some people might find some temporary relief, for a while — until these drugs stop working — but long-term failure and disappointment with almost every conventional treatment for neuropathy — is most always the end result. The individual meets with discouragement time and time again, until many begin feeling like a yo-yo on a string — frequently bouncing from the heights of hope — to yet another let down! The end result is many patients simply carry on down the road of continued hopelessness.
Why? Its because all conventional treatments focus ONLY on the treating of symptoms, while ignoring the underlying causes resulting in tissue death due to starvation.
Unfortunately, as neuropathy symptoms gradually worsen, and they usually do, some people develop so much pain that they turn to very strong medication to get them through the day, or Valium, Percocet, Oxycotin and other high-powered pain killers just to find a moment away from the misery — just to get by. This is neuropathy at its most dangerous.
Uncontrolled diabetes (even on medication) results from a poor diet, lack of exercise and unstable sugar levels. High blood sugar (glucose) due to a poor diet harms nerves and blood vessels. This affects circulation, especially the peripheral area of the body, such as limbs and extremities. This will then lead to Diabetic Neuropathy, which damages nerve fibers, causing numbness that leads to injuries and/or infections due to decreased sensations. The compromised blood circulation can lead to infections, injuries and foot ulcers, which can then lead to foot and leg amputations. This is because the blood cannot circulate fast enough to heal wounded areas. 86,000 Americans each year undergo diabetic amputations as a result of uncontrolled neuropathy.
Call us to schedule a complementary consultation to determine if you are a candidate for our 5-step Neuropathy Relief Program. The doctor will ask you a series of questions such as Where is the pain, when did it begin, what makes it better or worse? Then a thorough examination will be performed in which case the doctor will check your reflexes, blood pressure, balance, gait, skin sensory changes muscle strength and more to determine the cause of your Neuropathy symptoms. At this point the doctor may recommend x-rays or an MRI if he feels like further imaging will be necessary to determine the exact cause. After combining all of this information together the doctor will determine if you will make a good candidate for our 5-step Protocol for Neuropathy Pain Relief. If you do qualify for care, your Doctor will explain their recommended plan of action for you. If for some reason you do not qualify for care the doctor will refer you to someone who may better suit your needs.
